“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”
― John Lennon
When was the last time you spent a few hours or even a day getting in touch with and honoring your vision?
If I asked you right now what your top 5 strengths are and how they support your vision, would you be able to rattle them off as fast as you could tell me about what you ate for lunch or what your 5 biggest challenges are?
We live in a society where speaking about what is wrong in our lives is more acceptable than speaking about what is right. However, that doesn’t mean we have to accept this norm for ourselves. We can choose to focus on what is working in our favor and open the door to creating more of what makes us happy.
Why?
Because what we focus on increases.
Now, let’s switch gears for a moment and look at what your vision is. Are you clear on what you want to achieve in life? Have you laid out your 6 month, 12 month, 1 year and 3 year goals? Do you know why these goals and your vision will not only make a difference in your life but in the lives of others?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions, you are not alone. However, it is time to take a few moments to check in with yourself and get clarity. It is surprising how many of us glide through life without figuring out why what we want matters to us and to the world. What is more surprising is how many of us do not know what we want out of life or how every action we take throughout the day propels us toward or prevents us from reaching our goals.
If you don’t take the time to figure these things out for yourself, it is possible to go through your entire life without feeling connected to your purpose.
It really only needs to take a few minutes… to know in every moment what your ultimate goal is, how it will make the world a better place and exactly what you need to do to step toward your greatness every day. It starts with making a commitment to turning your vision into a reality.
Yes, you have been taking steps, but have they been holding you back, keeping you in the same place or moving you forward? Do you know this because you are clear on your goal and have created a plan to reach specific targets? Are you ready to place intention on your actions?
It all starts with knowing where you want to go in life.
Visualize it.
Create it.
Make it happen.
Know yourself.
Love yourself.
Open your heart and embrace who you are. Embrace the life you are leading right now as you get out that pencil and paper and write down your 5 strengths and how they are bringing you toward your vision. It’s time. As you evolve, your vision may shift but your purpose will stay the same.
