THE WORLD NEEDS LEADERS! Here’s How: #PrayforJapan

As the tragedy of the destructive events in Japan unfold a mixture of natural and manmade disaster, it has been almost impossible to focus on what seems like such a superficial task… building a business and living a blessed life.

Although the work that I do ultimately changes my clients’ lives in an extremely positive way and being a mom is one of the most important jobs in the world, the majority of my thoughts are with the people who have experienced and continue to experience unimagined hardship in Japan.  I want to help them.  I want to save them, but I can’t.

And there is this little voice inside my head that is getting louder and louder with each passing moment and you know what it is saying?

The world needs leaders to stand up and shine right now, so those who need strength can see the light and find their way.

I have never been one to stand on a soapbox and tell people what to do, but the world clearly needs leaders to step up and do their magic. You can lead your family, your team, your clients, your tribe or your community.  Heck, you can lead yourself, it doesn’t matter.  All it takes is a solid commitment to be the best person you can be, to be honest with yourself about who you are and who you want to be and to commit to help those around you to be the best they can be.  That’s it.  You can do it.  And we need you.

Look at the majority of the heads of state, dictators and politicians around the world (Japan not included) who look so clueless, cold and out of touch with their people.  I mean absolutely NO disrespect to any of them, as this is certainly a challenging time of change, uprising and survival…

But where the heck is INTEGRITY, strength, respect, honor, courage of convictions… or LOVE in the global leadership of our times?  Do our world leaders LOVE their people?

Just like you, my heart aches for the children who have been separated from their families, the elderly who feel confused about why they survived, the parents who held on to their babies as the tsunami swept them away… and ultimately tore them apart and the survivors who courageously battle new challenges as they try to rebuild their beautiful country.

Thank god for the Japanese Emperor who addressed his people and gave them hope for the future.

As awful as it seems, we need to see this horrible series of events as an opportunity to make the world a better place, to be the best we can be, to honor the earth and our lives for the gifts that they are.

To say that what has happened to Japan is tragic seems… futile?  Is that the right word?  I don’t know.  It feels beyond tragic and in some ways this all feels like a wake up call.  Hurricane Katrina, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the BP oil spill, the tsunami in Indonesia, the earthquakes in Haiti, Turkey, New Zealand, Chili…the unrest in the middle east and now the devastation in Japan.  We are living during a time like no other in history.  Challenging times or MAJOR growth opportunity?

It’s our choice.

In the words of Rosemarie Rosetti, “Adversity precedes growth.”

It is clear that we were all chosen to be here on earth to help shift the world into a new way of living… a new way of being.

Sure, we all have questions that no one can give us the answers to.  If you want answers then you must sit quietly and listen to your spirit.  Lead by the example.  But stop pretending that life is going to go back to the way that it used to be (whatever that was).  Stop waiting for someone else to take care of things.

It’s your time to shine.

The world needs you to step up and LEAD.

Your children need you to step up and lead… so you can show them how to do the same.  As moms, it all starts with healthy family leadership.  Now, go hug your kids a little tighter tonight, count your blessings and start showing appreciation for all of the things you have to be grateful for in your life.  That’s the sign of a true leader.

If this message has struck a cord with you, please help me to spread it so we can inspire positive change that the world needs right now. If you are looking for ways to help Japan, start by saying a prayer for the Japanese people and then get really honest with yourself about the work you were put on this earth to do… and take action.

Questions?  Thoughts? Let’s talk in the comments ;)

Britt, This definitely struck a chord with me because I don’t know what to do!!!! Stepping up & counting my blessings is perfect.

I am very familiar with the devastation that Hurricanes cause & the loss & the pain. But the Hurricanes are NOTHING compared to what Japan is suffering. They need a lot of support, love, and help right now. And will need it for years to come.

Thank you for writing such a heartfelt, beautiful post.

You are so right, Britt. It certainly is a tragedy, and a golden opportunity for us as women in a nation blessed with so much to mobilize and help ease the suffering right now. We could find ways of supporting with prayers and money, and the things that make life more bearable. I for one will find out if my local Red Cross will be sending relief and how I can help.
